Chalk line powder—also known as just chalk powder—is a colorful powder made from chalk to be used with chalk line reels to mark straight lines on indoor and outdoor surfaces.
The chalk line powder is filled into the housing, which is also where the drum with the wrapped cord is located. Chalk powder is added to the chalk line by pulling out the chalk line and unwinding it. Snapping the cord over the surface will leave behind a straight line marked with the colored powder.
The composition of the chalk line powder is crucial for precise marking. Chalk line powder with a higher color pigment to chalk ratio ensures the line has good visibility and durability. Only very finely ground chalk powder optimally adheres to the cord. This means that every line will be clear and precise.
